Blog Post #3

What is Peer Editing? What do you think is the best way to approach peer editing? How will you peer edit your classmates blog posts in EDM 310. What is the importance of peer editing?

Peer editing is when you are working with someone your own age to help improve, revise, and edit his or her own writing.  It can also be a confidence builder to some writers who are maybe, a little insecure about their own writing.  I think the best way to approach peer editing is by giving the writer compliments on his or her paper, making suggestions with good word choices, using details and organization skills, and making corrections where they need to be fixed.

The way that I would peer edit my classmates blog post in EDM 310 is by always reading through it twice, avoid fixing the problem, being honest, but constructive, taking the role of the intended reader, and always be specific.  Giving some good feedback means making comments that could really help the writer with their next revision.  The importance of peer editing is when you edit someone else's work it's one of the best ways to learn how to edit your own.  But most importantly, you must stay positive and be specific.

  1. You have great insight on how to properly peer edit. I know that some people, including myself, need someone to go behind them and review what they have created. I will often reread my own work and read the piece how it is supposed to be written. Also, it is a great point that some insecure people need help boosting their confidence with peer editing.
